Student in Paris, production artist on Madison Avenue, illustrator for the New York Times, licensor of brands, survivor of brain surgery...I have an absolutely fabulous life. First stop, Parsons School of Design where I majored in illustration with a minor in shopping at Fiorucci. I discovered Grace Jones, Centre Pompidou and casanis during my stint at Parsons in Paris, so my education was well-rounded.

My career started at the bottom of the ladder, working as a production artist on the Swissair account. From there I freelanced as a designer and art director for advertising agencies, publishing companies, magazines and design studios. My work led me to projects as varied as billboards for Seagrams, campaigns for American Express and murals for QVC. I did a gig at Metropolitan Home magazine and art directed an Absolut Vodka campaign. My illustrations appeared in Seventeen, Nordstrom’s, Better Homes & Gardens, and Vanity Fair. Designed a poster with Picabo Street. Illustrated for Target, Mattel Barbie styleguides and Sara Lee. And then came 9/11. New York shut down. The phone stopped ringing. The advertising business came to a screeching halt. And so, I picked myself up and jumped into the licensing business.

Combining my knowledge of design with my talent in illustration I started robin zingone®, specializing in licensed design for women and girls. Designed fabric collections, shower curtains, papergoods, social expression and back to school, from New York to Ecuador, California to Amsterdam. Along with my signature collection, another three properties were developed, loveMeTM robin zingone®, the kawaii brand, GirlygirlTM robin Zingone®, the collectible brand and Cocomimilulu®, the character brand. Not to stop there, along with my husband Peter we designed and built our home and studio in Connecticut in which I filled with uber-talented designers that share my love of loud music, magazines and candy.

And then my brain started bleeding. Hospitals, neurosurgeons, the inevitable brain surgery. Learning how to walk again, learning how to see without double vision, learning how to chew food. Luckily for me I’m an overachiever. Two months after surgery I was designing again, six months after surgery I exhibited in Las Vegas, and two years after surgery, I debuted my brands at a tradeshow in London...so you see, I really do have an absolutely fabulous life.
