Keywords: removeal, goo,residue

How do I remove my skin?

All DecalGirl skins should peel off pretty easily by just pulling it gently and slowly. It will leave no residue so that should not be a concern. If for any reason you have a problem or it seems difficult to remove, we have found that applying a little bit of heat, whether it be sunlight, a lamp or a short shot of heat from a blow dryer, will make it easier. On special finishes we strongly recommend using the heat before pulling it off. This especially applies to chrome type finishes found on many cellphones, game consoles, and laptops.

Some devices require a little extra help. iPods skins, for example, remove best if you hold down the click wheel as you pull off the skin. Macbooks skins come off easiest when the lid is closed. There are many ways to remove a skin, so we recommend to do what works best for you.

Do the skins cover the screens and what is the artwork on the screen in the mockups?

DecalGirl skins bond directly to the device leaving the screen exposed. With any device that supports picture wallpaper/screen savers we offer you the option of adding the matching image that finishes the look from the skin through the screen. The image you see in the screen is a downloadable file that is set as the background wallpaper and/or screen saver on the device. To protect your screen you may want to purchase a screen armor and install it prior to putting your skin on.

There seems to be an extra cut out on my iPhone skin, is it defective?

There is a cut on the iPhone that may appear to be a mistake, but it is actually a cut out for the proximity sensor of the phone. The proximity sensor deactivates the display and touchscreen when the iPhone is brought near the face during a call, so leaving it covered will disable the touch screen and display.

What is the difference between glossy and matte finish?

Matte finish is a non-glossy, satin-type finish. It allows fingerprints and smudges to fade into the surface of the skin and gives a unique look and feel to the artwork.
Glossy finish is the original DecalGirl skin finish. It has a shiny, glossy, appearance and the colors within the artwork may seem to be more vibrant.

How do I know what model my device is?

There are a few common places to look for your model number. The first location to try is in the manual that came with your device when you purchased it. If you no longer have your manual, try taking the battery out of your device. The model number is often printed under the battery. If the model number is not found under the battery, try searching the internet using your serial number in a search engine such as Google or Yahoo. As a last resource to find the model number, contact your manufacturer for assistance and as always, the customer service staff at DecalGirl is always willing to help.

Keywords: wallpaper, installation, picture, getmywallpaper

How do I put my wallpaper on my device?

1. If your device's email plan supports downloading attachments simply forward the attached image to your device's email address and download the attachment.

2. The 2nd option is saving the image directly on your computer. Then, using your USB cord, you can hook your device to the computer and copy the image to your device. When you connect your device (Windows) should pop up a dialog box that asks what you would like to do with this device. If you are using a Mac you'll want to open finder and locate your device in the left menu. Choose the option that allows you to view the files on the device. You can then copy and paste the wallpaper image onto your device. This option may require consulting the user manual that came with your device.

3. The 3rd option is transferring the wallpaper image from your computer to your device using a memory card. Using your device’s memory card (usually sold separately), you can add the wallpaper file to the memory card from your computer and then put the memory card back into your device (this is how we test 99% of our wallpapers). If your computer does not have a memory card reader, you may need a memory card reader/adapter.

4. Another method to get your wallpaper is via text/picture message. You can send a picture message to your device with the wallpaper image attached. (In order to do this you need to know your picture/text email address for your device. -- For example since I have Verizon mine would be 3026449399@vzwpix.com . Other carriers have different device email addresses as you can see from the following list.

    Carriers Picture/Text possible addresses:
  • Alltel = xxxxxxxxxx@message.alltel.com
  • Amp’d Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com
  • AT&T = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.att.net
  • Boost Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@myboostmobile.com
  • Centennial Wireless = xxxxxxxxxx@myblue.com
  • Cingular (AT&T) = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.mycingular.com
  • Einstein PCS = xxxxxxxxxx@einsteinmms.com
  • Nextel = xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.nextel.com
  • Sprint = xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com or xxxxxxxxxx@pm.sprint.com
  • T-Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net
  • US Cellular = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.uscc.net
  • Verizon Wireless = xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com
  • Virgin Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@vmobl.com

If you have trouble figuring out your picture messaging address, try sending a text to your E-mail. You can then reply to that message with your wallpaper attached. Standard text messaging rates apply to each text message sent or received as provided in your wireless rate plan. (Contact your carrier for pricing details).

As the owner of one of our skins, we're happy to help you finish the custom look of your new device with a matching background wallpaper image. Please note that due to differences in color profiles, some variance in color is normal. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us at Support@decalgirl.com
